Durability and lack of weapons doom this group. Second group out: Vankar, Earnest, and Kokichi. Adam also joins them due to poor attack and awful movement (I can find the movement without sacrifice, but it isn't worth it.) Gong, Hans, and Amon for being shit at everything. Speaking of Ken, he's also out for having bad attack and awful defense. Obviously Max is first in.įirst out: Arthur, being completely useless and having the worst of each stat of all knights (except Ken's DEF). I'm going to throw all biases out the window and see what happens. Since I have everyone now, except Hanzou, I'm going to set my final party (+1 potentially, if I want Hanzou). With perhaps Arthur being the one major exception, since even promoted his level-ups are absolute garbage until he hits I think about level 10-15, and because of that late growth I believe his high unpromoted levels actually outmatch his low promoted levels. It's one reason why I feel like level 20 promoting is overrated, because that's 10 more levels of waiting before you start getting the really good level-ups.

In regards to the other characters though, while some of them do still remain rather weak, level-ups in general in SF1 become significantly more potent after you've promoted compared to other entries in the series that may just go from +2s to +3s. That was so many years ago now though, not to mention I don't think I've ever again seen a double-digit gain throughout dozens of runs, that I've come to wonder if that actually happened, or if the max possible gain is +9 and my shock of seeing such a massive ATK increase on a VICR caused my memories to become slightly exaggerated over the years. The highest stat gain I recall ever getting though was a +11 with attack power on Lowe. It's always awesome to get level-ups of 8 or 9 points in a single stat.
